A regionally operating construction transport company with its own fleet of vehicles and a high volume of orders in its daily business faced a growing challenge: short-notice orders, variable construction site conditions, and fluctuating material availability made manual dispatching increasingly time-consuming, and the shortage of skilled workers exacerbated the situation. Given this situation, AI-powered dispatching was considered as a potential solution.

Solution – Scheduling with AI support

Together with the company, an AI-supported scheduling prototype was developed which:

  • Incoming orders analyzed in real time
  • Automatically suggests means of transport, routes and time windows
  • Priorities weighted according to urgency, travel time and cargo volume
  • actively incorporates changes (e.g., weather-related closures) into the planning.

The solution is based on a semantic processing of order data, which is integrated into the software.
